Sarah-Dona Manev (1983) graduated in 2011 from the Royal Academy of Visual Arts in The Hague. Her work is characterized by the relationship between the inner world of a subject and the physical space. Whether it is a staged or ‘found’ composition, an un-stylized / raw image is created. As if the maker registers a different reality.
It is in fact an almost surreal visual language, an expression of our subconscious self. Most images are characterized by a certain monumental approach to composition. They are close to a scenographer’s perspective and are just as suitable for theater as they are for architecture or sculpture.
